Tandoori Chicken


Tandoori Chicken 

Ingredients:

- 2 pounds (approximately 1 kg) chicken pieces (legs, thighs, or boneless breasts)

- 1 cup plain yogurt

- 2 tablespoons lemon juice

- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

- 2 tablespoons tandoori masala (a spice blend readily available in stores)

- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste

- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder

- 1 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust according to your spice preference)

- 1 teaspoon cumin powder

- 1 teaspoon coriander powder

- 1 teaspoon garam masala

- Salt to taste

- Fresh cilantro leaves, for garnish

- Lemon wedges, for serving




Instructions:

1. In a large bowl, combine the yogurt, lemon juice, vegetable oil, tandoori masala, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well to form a marinade.

2. Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, making sure they are well coated. You can use a knife to make shallow cuts on the chicken to allow the marinade to penetrate better. Cover the bowl and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight for more flavor.

3. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat or preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

4. If using a grill, lightly grease the grates. If using an oven, line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top.

5. Take the marinated chicken out of the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 15-20 minutes.

6. If grilling, place the chicken pieces on the grill and cook for about 15-20 minutes per side, or until the chicken is cooked through and has a slightly charred and smoky flavor. If using an oven, arrange the chicken on the wire rack and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked.

7. Once the chicken is done, remove it from the grill or oven and let it rest for a few minutes.

8. Garnish the Tandoori Chicken with fresh cilantro leaves and serve it hot with lemon wedges on the side.

9. Tandoori Chicken pairs well with naan bread, rice, or a fresh salad.
