 Recipe for Chicken Dumplings

Ingredients:

For the dumpling dough:

- 2 cups all-purpose flour

- 1/2 teaspoon salt

- 3/4 cup warm water

For the filling:

- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, finely chopped

- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion

- 2 cloves garlic, minced

- 1/2 cup finely chopped carrots

- 1/2 cup finely chopped celery

- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

- 2 tablespoons soy sauce

- 1 teaspoon sesame oil

- Salt and pepper to taste

For the dipping sauce:

- 1/4 cup soy sauce

- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar

- 1 teaspoon sesame oil

- 1 teaspoon honey

- 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger

- 1 clove garlic, minced

Instructions:

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt for the dumpling dough. Gradually add warm water while stirring with a fork until the mixture comes together into a ball of dough.

2. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.

3. In a large skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions, garlic, carrots, and celery. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are softened.

4. Add the finely chopped chicken to the skillet and cook until it is no longer pink. Season with soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine all the flavors. Remove from heat and let the filling cool slightly.

5. On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a thin sheet, about 1/8 inch thick. Cut out circles using a round cookie cutter or the rim of a glass.

6. Place a spoonful of the chicken filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold the circle in half, sealing the edges by pressing them together. You can crimp the edges with a fork to create a decorative pattern.

7. In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add the dumplings in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the dumplings float to the surface and are cooked through.

8. While the dumplings are cooking, prepare the dipping sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, honey, grated ginger, and minced garlic.

9. Serve the cooked dumplings hot with the dipping sauce on the side. You can garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds if desired.

Enjoy your homemade chicken dumplings!
